Another fine sunny day at Mt Manganui for the Billabong Grom Series. While the west coast was maxing out with lines stacked to the horizon, the 2-3ft waves didn't stop the up and coming New Zealand groms giving it all they got. The competition was held at Tay St in front of the new artificial reef. As well as the comp there was the "Girl get out there" event to offer a chance for girls to try their hand at surfing with free lessons. I was there on the first of this two day event to bring you some highlights of the action that day.
